When I was a little girl, I would watch my dad paint at his drawing table. I would love to watch how he made a scene or an object come to life. Just a few small brush strokes or an application of color and I could begin to feel the object or walk into the scene whether it was a peaceful landscape or bustling foreign cityscape.

Working at a local art gallery, I was able to see others give life to their paintings. So I headed back to school to learn how to create my own illustrations and designs. Our son came into our life soon after earning my illustration degree from Kendall College of Art and Design. I found myself completely enjoying spending time with my husband, raising our son, traveling, and working as a website developer and graphic designer.

Now with more time at my drawing table, I find I am still intrigued with the creation of objects and scenes through a stroke of a pencil or an application of color. I work primarily in colored pencils and received a signature member status from the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA) in 2015. Using the many layers to give the object or scene its life and dimension, the pencils allow me to achieve vivid color and details in a varying degree. I also love the spontaneity to just pick up a pencil and begin creating.

My artwork ranges from boats, cars, landscapes, animals, and figures. I love boats and traveling. With the many antique boat shows around the country that my husband and I travel to, my subject material is endless. I love animals. I enjoy capturing the personality of the animal, the many textures, and the vibrant color. I love watching the figure or object come to life with the use of color here or a stroke there. And, as I do when creating a client's logo, I try to add … maybe a suggestion of something else?

The French novelist Andre Gide said:
"Art is the collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better."
